Build vs Buy: Everything Software Vendors Don't Want You To Know

Your security tools don’t have to be expensive. In many cases, you can easily build them yourself. In this talk, I will give several examples of building your own security tools that can save you thousands of dollars in cost savings.

Tools we will explore replacing include Microsoft’s Local Admin Password Solution (LAPS), Proofpoint’s Threat Response Auto-Pull (TRAP), and adding two factor authentication to Citrix Netscaler (via a custom RADIUS server) and Active Directory Federation Services (via a custom DLL).

We will also briefly explore how you can create your own Secure Email Gateway using the Department of Homeland Security’s free Automated Indicator Sharing (AIS) threat feed, and create your own backup solution using Microsoft’s Volume Shadow Copy Service (VSS).
